Below are some answers to frequently answered questions.....
CAMP TIMES FOR June 10-13 CAMP - 9:30 - 2:00
DAILY CHECK IN/PICK UP - On the first day please walk your child behind the 3rd Base Dugout at the College of Central Florida Baseball Field to the picnic tables and check in your child so that they can receive a nametag and we can double check emergency phone numbers. On Tues/Wed/Thurs you can just pull up to the curb and we will have coaches opening car doors and helping with the drop off. We invite everyone to attend the awards ceremony every day, they are 15 minutes before camp ends!! If you are going to be late for pickup on any day please call me (Marty Smith) at 427-8372 and let me know so I can inform your child as some kids get a little antsy when their parents aren't there after the awards.
WHAT TO BRING – Towel, bathing suit, sneakers, baseball gloves and cap. Optional items include cleats, bats, batting gloves and equipment bags. Be sure to label all items with your child’s name.
T-SHIRTS – T-Shirts will be given out on Monday. Please wear T-Shirts to camp on Thursday.
FIRST TIME CAMPERS - If you have a shy or young camper or one that might be overwhelmed by the amount of other kids or they may not know anyone please let us know and we’ll keep a close eye early and make sure that they have some fun and get into the flow of camp early. We usually can get their minds off of going home and we should be able to get them comfortable and in to the flow of camp.
WEATHER - In the summer we are always aware of the heat and try to encourage drinking water throughout the day while we are outside. There will be water available all day. Please inform your child to always tell us when they need to break and get out of the sun. We have a lightning detector and we are aware when lightning gets close and when thunderstorms are in the area. When the storms roll in we go inside the baseball clubhouse and we have indoor activities planned. We will play in light rain as long as there is no lightning in the area. Try to apply sunscreen in the mornings. We will have spray on sunscreen available throughout the day if kids need it, all they must do is ask!!! We also have a first aid kit available for any bumps and scrapes.
SLIP 'N SLIDE (Water time) – Unfortunately the CF pool closed and we know longer can take a swim break. So now it will be a 20 minute cool off period on the slip n' slide, working on sliding, baseball tags, and generally having some fun. So we still need them to bring a bathing suit and towel for this activity.
BEFORE AND AFTER CAMP – Camp begins at 9:30 am. We will have someone here by 8:55 every morning so please do not drop off campers before then. Our awards ceremony for the June 10-13 Camp begins everyday at 1:45. We end camp everyday at 2:00. If there is rain during drop-off or pick up then we will begin/end the day in the baseball clubhouse which is behind the 3b dugout.
EARLY PICK UP OR LATE DROP OFF- If you are dropping off your child late or picking them up early and we are not at the field we will either be at the pool, or in the baseball clubhouse watching a movie right after lunch. I can always be reached at 427-8372 if you need to pick up your child on short notice.
AWARD CEREMONY – We will have an awards ceremony every day at 1:45. IF THERE IS RAIN AT THE END OF THE DAY THE AWARDS CEREMONY WILL BE IN THE BASEBALL CLUBHOUSE.
LOST ITEMS – Please be sure to mark all your child’s equipment, gloves, hats, etc. with their name in permanent marker if possible. We will have a marker available on the first day of camp. We do keep a box of lost and found items that we pick up at the conclusion of each day. Many equipment bags look alike and we have had numerous kids take home the wrong bag. Please have a marking or name on the outside of the bag so that your bag is easily identified, and you take home the correct bag.
LUNCH/ICE BREAK – Mon/Hot dogs- Tue/BK burgers - Wed/Turkey-Ham Sandwich - Thur/Pizza. Twice a day campers will have an opportunity to buy a packaged snack and/or drink during our ICE BREAK. Snacks range from 50 cents to $1.00. Also, they can bring coolers for their own drink/lunch if they wish.
DISCIPLINE POLICY – Depending on the severity of the offense we will....1. Speak with the child and place him on the “NO PATCH LIST” (Award patches) for the day.....2. Use the “Penalty Box” (TIME-OUT)...or 3. Dismiss the child from camp.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS
PARK IN POOL PARKING LOT OR BLDG.5 PARKING LOT ALONG THE FIRST BASE/RIGHT FIELD LINE AND DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS IN FIRE STATION DRIVEWAY AREA.
